Eligible
To be eligible for this program, a trainee must meet one of the following criteria:
- Students who completed B. E/ B. Tech in Mechanical/ Production/ Industrial & Production Engineering/ Industrial Engineering & Management/ Automobile/ Mechatronics/ Aeronautical Engineering/ Polymer Engineering/ IIIE or equivalent are eligible for this course
- No age limit: There is no age restriction to apply for this course.
- The candidate should have good proficiency in 2D/ 3D software preferably – Creo Parametric
Summary
The one-year program offered at Bangalore's Peenya campus provides engineering graduates with advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in Tool Design. The program aims to equip students with the necessary skills to meet the evolving demands of industries, focusing specifically on press tools and molds. Graduates of this program will have ample opportunities for employment in tooling and gauging industries, as well as in CAD/CAM fields.
Upon completion of the program, students are expected to:
- Design press tools for sheet metal components.
- Design molds for plastic components.
- Design pressure dies casting dies.
- Design jigs, fixtures, and gauges, and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Utilize CAD software in the design of press tools, molds, jigs, fixtures, and die-casting dies.
- Perform process planning and manufacturing of press tools, molds, and jigs & fixtures.

Upon completing the program, students can expect excellent career opportunities as Tool Designers, specializing in designing Press Tools, Plastic Moulds, Jigs & Fixtures, and Die Casting Dies. They can also pursue roles as CAD-CAM-CAE engineers. Based on their performance, students can potentially earn annual salaries up to Rs. 8.0 lakhs.
Furthermore, students who complete the PGDTD program have the option to continue their higher education. With the PGDTD qualification, they are eligible for lateral entry into the third semester of the PGTE (Postgraduate Degree in Tool Engineering) program.
